Stop Devolving, Start Evolving Now

Humanity is Devolving! … Not something you’re used to hearing friends talk about? A controversial issue? You bet.

I’ve been saying that humanity has been devolving, for a few years now.. It is my opinion that the human race has been experiencing reverse evolution.

Many experience devolution as they move from childhood into manhood or womanhood and into the world that we live in (and get blinded and dumbed-down by).

In this article I show you how to protect yourself from devolving.

Devolving in what ways? I’m not talking about our uncontrollable physical evolution, rather I’m concerned with the controllable evolution, in terms of spirituality, emotion, intellect, awareness, morality, and intelligence. In evolving I refer to one’s mission and passion to seeking wholeness.

In the short term, in my life span, I saw more and more people get consumed by computer games, sports, alcohol, money, lame fame, lame TV shows, lame social distractions, and drinking the cool aid and accepting the dumbing down of our brains and psyche.

The de-evolving I saw occurred in people’s morality, ability to reason, critical thinking, knowing one’s self, staying in touch with one’s self, staying true to ones self, honesty, awareness, embracing the human spirit and potential, etc…

I also have de-evolved as I grew up as do most people. It is hard to resist being influenced, distracted and dumbed down by cultural norms, mind control, peer pressure, etc..

I urge parents to not indoctrinate their kids into the cultural norms, let your kids evolve not devolve. Let them grow up seeking wholeness, whatever it means to them. Allow them to continue being open minded, teach them to question everything, to questions rules, norms, cultures, religions, research, TV ads, peers, (and politicians for sure) etc etc…. Kids think that parents and older people are all-knowing, if you’re 20 years or older you know this is not true.

In fact, most adults really do not know any better than these 5-year old kids know when it comes to questions related to the origin of the universe, what life is, human contentiousness, human soul, life on other planets etc… The only difference is that old people pretend to know, we lie to ourselves, we stop questioning, we want easy and comforting answers. We allow ourselves to devolve.

Teach your kids to study the outside world while holding tight to their inner curiosity, aspirations and passions. Encourage them to seek, seek answers, seek knowledge, seek any thing; because all seeking will bring them to the one all-encompassing seek that all humanity shares, namely the seeking of wholeness.

For adults I say take back your true self, your young self, your true passions, and your curiosity. Put back that spark in your eyes, ask difficult questions, and most importantly, do not be afraid from the answers or from not finding answers. It is simply true that we do not have answers for everything. Sometimes it is good to know that we don’t know.

If you do these you can protect yourself from devolving and you can evolve yourself, and help evolve others.

If you beleive that you are a spiritual being, this discussion takes on a deeper, older, and more broad meaning. Even as a spiritual being you are not whole, you also seek to be whole, you seek knowledge, and other things.

If you are a spiritual being in a physical form, then ask yourself how do you keep your spiritual self from devolving? How do you protect yourself from being consumed by materialism, purchasing, discounts, gadgets, and other obsessions in useless things? In addition, how do you protect your physical body from harm, from environmental contaminants that could cause illness and jeoprodise your seeking.

Children question things that matter. Do you question things that matter? If not, then what about starting now. What is it that you question?

Do you care to seek, or are you happy remaining ignorant? If you are fine with being ill informed, you are devolving. Don’t kid yourself, because you are slipping lower and becoming less intelligent, less aware, less alive every day.

Ask questions that matter. Start seeking now; join me and others in seeking, we are all humans in seeking. This is normal.. you know it.

If you truly seek the big picture, seek your potential and seek wholeness, you will then break loose from the cultural norms and you will see things differently, you will truly become free, you also will start to see how pointless it is to seek materialistic things and other things that we/or others created to distract us and feed us with cheap short-lived happiness while dumbing down our brains and spirits.

As far as you keep on seeking, you keep on evolving. There is no ‘static’ state in your existence. If you are not seeking and growing (moving forward) then you are moving backwards and devolving.

That’s it. This is how you can protect yourself from devolving.

Humanity is devolving – Are you?

Warning:

Side effects of not devolving (i.e. to evolve) may include being ostracized, mocked by people, and not understood by family. You also may find yourself alone especially if the people around you all seek material or useless things.

Best of luck

Actually, that’s what i’m feeling right now. Yes, i am alone, people laugh at me, even stayed away to as they think i’m medieval.

Sometimes i think almost everyone is drunk with the world.

I mean, being religious, i see the people of my religion degrading themselves to a point of a characteristics similar to animals…. as you would say… devolve. That’s why you hear on tv on how many teen pregnancies and abortion and people tend to look at it to “heal” with parents and all.. but i see it as a more secular society where we seek pleasures outside but void of virtues, inside.

I agree that society as a whole has gone downhill in many ways, I also feel that we have made great advancements as well. Additionally, I think that there is a growing segment of the population that is awakening and moving into a more spiritual and enlightened way of thought and action. Have you ever read or listened to “A New Earth” by Eckart Tolle? He talks a lot about this idea.

    @ Zihan,
    Thanks for your comment.
I’m sure you’re not medieval. You just ask questions that other people don’t.

In my opinion (I know this may rub some people the wrong way), being religious has very little to do with a person’s niceness, awareness, morality or goodness. I’ve known many religious people who attend church or the mosque on regular basis but they were shallow people.

Don’t confuse spirituality and religion, they are not the same.

My opinion is that there are things that bring people together, like spirituality and science, they bring people from all races and walks of life together in ‘seeking’. Religion sometimes divides people.

You should seek spiritually aware people, not religious people. and guess what, whatever their religion is doesn’t matter, you will see that if they are spiritual (not religious) that they will be more understanding and open minded.

What you described about people being consumed by the ‘world’ is common. I have seen this in all the countries I lived at. I have been to churches and heard various religious leaders preach on morality, sins, goodness etc.. and they end their preaching by saying “don’t just remember god in the house of god (church or mosque) remember him (god) when you walk out and every day”.
Funny how most people don’t. See, it is not about god, it is about a persons level of spiritual awakening. Without spiritual awareness all the rules of religions do not matter because we need to be people that follow our hearts, our inner morals, and these do not come from preachers or from books, these come and originate from inside a person from their spirit.

This is perhaps the reason why you find religious people not understanding you and not open minded to your experiences. IMHO.

    @ Erika,
I heard Eckhart Tolle in an interview on ‘speaking of faith’ on NPR a few months ago.

I hope you’re right about the growing segment of the population that is awakening and moving into a more spiritual and enlightened way of thought and action.

I’ll add his book to my list of things to read. I did like everything that he said on that radion interview.

Thanks for the suggestion and for sharing your opinion.

Brilliant article. I despise today’s community. I’m merely 15, and it’s difficult to cut out everything at such a young age. Don’t get me wrong, my understanding of these things is plenty older, but physically, I’m just not. School is a pain. Small-minded people everywhere, wherever I go. It’s impossible for me to make any friends, because I find everyone shallow and uncomfortable to be around at my current school. I’ve barely scratched the surface of meeting people though, so I don’t mind too much about that. I’m just happy to read this article and know that others are similar to me. We’re the open-minded, intelligent, good minority. I’m unsure how I feel about that.
    :)
