Your Vision Will Become Clear When.. Wake Up to the Dream

November 6th, 2015 No comments

I would like to suggest that you add these 3 words to the end of this quote: “in the dream”.

Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.

What is dreadful is your reaction and inner resistance

March 27th, 2015 No comments

The ego cannot distinguish between a situation and its interpretation of and reaction to that situation. You might say, “What a dreadful day,” without realizing that the cold, the wind, and the rain or whatever condition you react to are not dreadful. They are as they are. What is dreadful is your reaction, your inner resistance to it, and the emotion that is created by that resistance. In Shakespeare’s words “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” What is more, suffering or negativity is often misperceived by the ego as pleasure because up to a point the ego strengthens itself through it.

Quotes from New Earth: On Forgiveness, Resentment & Grievances

December 18th, 2014 No comments

Below you find quotes extracted from Tolle’s book New Earth concerning the topics of: Resentment, grievances and forgiveness ..  Other concepts mentioned below include: The negativeness of indignation, being offended, complaining, bitterness, the ego, labeling, unconsciousness, finding faults, others, anger, hurt, enemies, superiority, upset, painbodies … Followed by how to Forgive.

.

Concepts and lines have been extracted, rearranged, and important words highlighted.  Some things were rephrased, others were pasted “as is” .. When things are pasted un-modified, “as is”, they will not have quotation marks.  I take “no” credit for any of this, these are all Tolle’s concepts.

Resentment

Resentment is the emotion that goes with:
1- complaining and
2- the mental labeling of people
These add energy into and feed the ego.

Resentment may also be accompanied by stronger emotions such as:
1- anger or
2- some other form of upset.
This charges the resentment energetically more.

Resentment means:
To feel bitter, indignant, aggrieved, or offended.

You might resent:
Labels you apply to other people, such as other people’s greed, dishonesty, lack of integrity, or actions such as: what they are doing, did, did not do, said, have not said.

Everyone is a Child?

December 8th, 2014 No comments

Most human beings cease to develop at around the age of ten or twelve. The average seventy year-old is often a ten year-old with sixty years time-in-grade. Our societies are of, by, and for Human Children, which explains the self-perpetuating nature of this ghoulish malady, as well as most of the silliness we see in the world.

Quotes from New Earth: Part 1 – On Success, Abundance, Work and Money

December 7th, 2014 No comments

Below you will find a compilation (part 1) of what Eckhart Tolle says in his book New Earth on the issues of success, abundance, work and money…  Other words of interest are: Energy, flow, “not enough”, and who you “really are”, and surrender.  Some parts have been highlighted for you.

Please note, I am no guru or teacher.  I’m only presenting quotes that I liked (more or less) and ones that seemed to summarize Tolle’s point of view.  The paragraphs below span the entire book, and are not in any particular order, beyond what I felt was appropriate.

To start you off, let’s look at the quote about ego:

It [the ego] consists of thought and emotion, of a bundle of memories you identify with as “me and my story,” of habitual roles you play without knowing it, of collective identifications such as nationality, religion, race, social class, or political allegiance. It also contains personal identifications, not only with possessions, but also with opinions, external appearance, longstanding resentments, or concepts of yourself as better than or not as good as others, as a success or failure

Now, we are ready for the rest of the quotes:

The ego’s unconscious core feeling of “not enough” causes it to react to someone else’s success as if that success had taken something away from “me.” It doesn’t know that your resentment of another person’s success curtails your own chances of success. In order to attract success, you need to welcome it wherever you see it.

How to be at peace now? By making peace with the present moment. The present moment is the field on which he game of life happens. It cannot happen anywhere else. Once you have made peace with the present moment, see what happens, what you can do or choose to do, or rather what life does through you. There are three words that convey the secret of the art of living, the secret of all success and happiness: One With Life. Being one with life is bieng one with Now. You then realize that you don’t live your life, but life lives you. Life is the dancer, and you are the dance.

Who you think you are is also intimately connected with how you see yourself treated by others. Many people complain that others do not treat them well enough. “I don’t get any respect, attention, recognition, acknowledgment,” they say. “I’m being taken for granted.” When people are kind, they suspect hidden motives. “Others want to manipulate me, take advantage of me. Nobody loves me.”

Negating your Self and Becoming Who You Are

December 6th, 2014 No comments

Negating your “self”, i.e. your “ego“,

is a process of destroying.

This is a part of what is called an awakening from a dream-state.

This can be seen as a 3-step process of

seeing,

killing then,

detaching

.

.

The process of awakening looks like it’s about destroying ego, but that’s not really accurate. You never completely rid yourself of ego–the false self–as long as you’re alive, and it’s not important that you do. What matters is the emotional tethers that anchor us to the dreamstate; that hold us in place and make us feel that we’re a part of something real. We send out energetic tendrils from the nexus of ego like roots to attach ourselves to the dreamstate, and to detach from it we must sever them. The energy of an emotion is our lifeforce, and the amount of lifeforce determines the power of the emotion. Withdraw energy from an emotion and what’s left? A sterile thought. A husk. In this sense, freeing ourselves from attachment is indeed the process of awakening, but such attachments aren’t what we have, they’re what we are.

~ Jed McKenna, Spiritually Incorrect Enlightenment p.193

Disclaimer: this process is not for everyone, it will change you.

Blessed are the Meek & the Kingdom of God is in Your Midst

December 4th, 2014 No comments

A quote from New Earth by Eckhart Tolle:

Nothing is going to make us free because only the present moment can make us free. That realization is the awakening. Awakening as a future event has no meaning because awakening is the realization of Presence. So the new heaven, the awakened consciousness, is not a future state to be achieved. A new heaven and a new earth are arising within you at this moment, and if they are not arising at this moment, they are no more than a thought in your head and therefore not arising at all.

What did Jesus tell his disciples? “Heaven is right here in the midst of you.” In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus makes a prediction that to this day few people have understood. He says, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

In modern versions of the Bible, “meek” is translated as humble. Who are the meek or the humble, and what does it mean that they shall inherit the earth? The meek are the egoless. They are those who have awakened to their essential true nature as consciousness and recognize that essence in all
“others,” all lifeforms. They live in the surrendered state and so feel their oneness with the whole and the Source. They embody the awakened
consciousness that is changing all aspects of life on our planet, including nature, because life on earth is inseparable from the human consciousness
that perceives and interacts with it. That is the sense in which the meek will inherit the earth.
- Tolle, @ the end of “the New Earth” book

Be the Valley

November 30th, 2014 No comments

Through becoming less (in the ego‘s perception), you in fact undergo an expansion and make room for Being to come forward. True power, who you are beyond form, can then shine through the apparently weakened form. this is what Jesus means when he says, “Deny yourself” or “Turn the other cheek.” This does not mean, of course, that you invite abuse or turn yourself into a victim of unconscious people. …..

If you are content with being nobody in particular, content not to stand out, you align yourself with the power of the universe. What looks like weakness to the ego is in fact the only true strength. This spiritual truth is diametrically opposed to the values of our contemporary culture and the way it conditions people to behave. Instead of trying to be the mountain, teaches the ancient Tao Te Ching, “Be the valley of the universe.” In this way, you are restored to wholeness and so “All things will come to you.”

Similarly, Jesus, in one of his parables, teaches that “When you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place so that when your host comes, he may say to you, friend, move up higher. Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Consciousness Created your Brain

November 15th, 2014 No comments

In many of the oldest spiritual knowledge, and occult knowledge, it is understood that Consciousness (god, atman, brahman, spirit, omniverse, soul, the consciousness that observes itself, the unchanging eternal) is the force or energy which is behind all of the physical creation.  Some say that this physical world itself is a mere , like a holographic universe and physics now is catching up.

Quote:

The brain does not create consciousness, but consciousness created the brain, the most complex physical form on earth, for its expression. When the brain gets damaged, it does not mean you lose consciousness. It means consciousness can no longer use that form to enter this dimension. You cannot lose consciousness because it is, in essence, who you are. You can only lose something that you have, but you cannot lose something that you are.

Inner Purpose, Outer Purpose and Stress

November 10th, 2014 No comments

Watch out for the “ego“.

If you ignore your inner purpose, no matter what you do, even if it looks spiritual, the ego will creep into how you do it, and so the means will corrupt the end. – Tolle, New Earth

Whenever you become anxious or stressed, outer purpose has taken over, and you lost sight of your inner purpose. You have forgotten that your state of consciousness is primary, all else secondary. – Tolle, New Earth

What Are You Worshiping?

Do not go about worshiping deities and religious institutions as the source of the subtle truth. To do so is to place intermediaries between yourself and the divine, and to make of yourself a beggar who looks outside for a treasure that is hidden inside his own breast.

Heal :: Be the Strong!

December 9th, 2010 1 comment

Do what it takes to heal yourself.

If that means seeing a healer, shaman, therapist or doctor, then do it.

If that means forgiveness, then forgive.

If it means experimenting with foods and drinks, then do.

If it means giving up foods, drinks, behaviors, weight, do it.

If it means changing a habit or more, do it.

If it means changing the way you think, change it.

.

If it means giving yourself permission to heal, give yourself that permission.

.

If it means taking personal responsibility, then take responsibility for your health.

But “don’t” pass-on the blame

don’t blame

for when you blame, you take “your infinite power”, and “handed it away”

.

don’t handed your infinite power and health away

.

Only the weak agree with blame-calling and the strong see it as petty.

What Physics and Math Really Are

November 4th, 2010 2 comments

“The missing link in physics is consciousness”

Scientists consider math as the universal language. Should we meet aliens from other galaxies math is expected to be the language we could use. Notice how math is a “language”

mathWe also consider physics to hold “laws” of nature. Yet a universal unifying theory of physics still eludes the greatest minds.

Humans do not use physics to walk, to open a door knob, to run, to use tools.

Cats do not use physics or equations when they sprint or jump on to the counter-top.

Birds do not use physics or equations to fly.

The biological brain or what we call the “mind” in these beings does NOT use equations or math.

I was taught that everything and everyone uses physics, this statement is very misleading. Physics, as in all of Science, simply “explains” or interprets into “laws, observations, words and numbers what nature does.

Physics and math are simply written “languages” that we use to explain “nature” or what we consider “reality”. All living beings seem to function just fine, naturally, organically, without knowing math or physics.

.

.

The reason a unifying theory of physics is missing, the reason physics explains many things but not everything, is that physics (and math) are missing something.

.

Physics and math are missing something that cannot be written, or explained, or translated into a human language, this missing link is “consciousness”.

.

I remember the first day I was exposed to physics. I was very excited to interpret and understand how things work. However, I soon started to notice a persistent thought, it almost always nagged on me, starting on the first day and onto every physics class I took in high school. Even in college this thought never cased to exist. I found myself often thinking (more accurately feeling), “but this is not right”, “something is wrong about this”, “I know physics is not done this way”. My main feeling was that “it was wrong”. But I could not explain where this feeling came from. I simply assumed that I just needed to learn more advanced physics to get this feeling to go away.

I’ve always had a persistent and intuitive sense that there was a different way to interpret the universe and “nature”

It Never Hurts to Look at Your Beliefs and Question Why You Hold Them

October 16th, 2010 No comments

cosmosIt never hurts to look at your beliefs and question why you hold them. By asking “why” of your motives, thoughts and actions, you push, stretch and expand the capacity for the soul to express ItSelf.

WHY, WHY, WHY. Ask “why” do I see things in this way?

Then ask a bigger question:
Are you in love? Or are you afraid? Are you angry? Or are you enchanted… with yourself, with life?

Do you live in your Divine Inheritance of fulfillment, freedom, and joy? Be not afraid of whether you are worthy of these things, for you are born of them, to give birth to more of them, in your own unique way.

Longevity? Activity, Olive Oil and a Positive Mindset!

September 18th, 2010 1 comment

Mariam Amash, an active inhabitant of an Arab Israeli village named Jisr a-Zarka, applied for a new Israeli identity card in 2008 and became popular because they found she could be 120 years of age!

The Guinness Book of Records currently lists 114-year-old Edna Parker of Shelbyville, Ind., as holding the title of oldest person alive. Even if Mariam is not 120 years of age, she’s still pretty old; her original birth certificate was issued by the Turkish/Ottoman authorities that ruled that region between the years 1299 and 1923.

How did she live to such an age?  maybe it’s just genetics, or just statistics.. but for whatever it’s worth I’d like to quote:

A granddaughter-in-law, Hamda Amash, 40, said Mariam is a “healthy, active woman. She walks each day and makes sure she drinks at least one glass of olive oil.” She was a pampered second wife who married relatively late, explaining the ages of her children, Hamda Amash said. “Her house is always full of people,” she said. “People like to come to her house. She talks to us about the old days. She knows the history since the Turkish times.” Turkish control over the Holy Land ended with World War I.

A devout Muslim, …

Next, I quote from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariam_Amash

As of February 2008, Amash was reported as being “remarkably sprightly”,[1] with 10 children, 120 grandchildren, 250 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren.[1]

She has bad hearing and can only recall portions of the past at a time, making her difficult to interview. In a 2008 interview with Al Jazeera English, she recalled the Ottomans as being “nice”, but did not like the British when they took over in 1917, and is satisfied with life in modern day Israel, especially with her government-provided social security. A devout Muslim, she has made the Hajj to Mecca five times. She claims to owe her age to olive oil, which she drinks every day, her avoidance of alcohol, and a local herb Palestinians often use for salads. She also stated that she expected to live “another ten years”.[3]

Disclaimer: can’t always rely on wikipedia for accurate info.

What I can ascertain  from the quotes regarding her longevity is the following:

1- She is active (and healthy)

2- Walks each day

3- Drinks at least one glass of olive oil a day

4- Her house was full of people (she is either sociable or simply surrounded by social interaction, love, emotions, communication)

On Built-in Meanings & Change

The more the old systems reveal their inadequacies the more people will believe change is needed. Every thing that happens is an opportunity. Everything is neural, if you define it as positive you get a positive effect.

NOTHING has a built-in meaning.

All Healing Is Self Healing – Regardless Of Healer Or Method

May 12th, 2010 No comments

kinesisHere’s some food for though, did you know that all (I mean every single) healing that you experience is 100% your body healing itself? medicine, doctors even religious and energy healers, they do not heal you, they assist your body in healing itself.

It’s nice to see this quote from Master Lin (i.e. Chunyi Lin), a QiGong Master and founder of the Spring Forest QiGong technique, basically validating this point, that all healing is self healing      :-)

Hello my dear friends! It is very important to know that a qigong master never heals- the qigong master only helps and assists. The person has to heal themself.

By Chunyi Lin (posted May 11, 2010)

Master Lin was named 2010 Qigong Master of the Year at the 12th World Congress on Qigong/TCM in San Francisco, California on April 24, 2010.

The Link Between Meditation and Artificial Intelligence

February 17th, 2010 3 comments

Mechanical BrainSit down, put your feet on the ground, sit up straight, close your eyes, breath deeply, start to notice your thoughts. Now slowly separate your awareness from your thoughts, in other words take a couple steps back in your mind from your thoughts, notice the thoughts but don’t actually think them, start to listen and watch the thoughts as the arise.

What you are doing is becoming an observer of your thoughts, not participating in them, simply acknowledging them, letting them go along as you remain, a non-critical observer.

It may help if you had a word to repeat (like ‘ohm’, or any mantra) or a spot to concentrate your eyes on (with your eyes closed) to help you keep your observer self separate from your thoughts.

Soon, you may notice all sorts of thoughts, ideas, even images and sounds show up, from somewhere, and if you let them be (without judging or participating in them), fade away.

This practice of observing thoughts is fascinating and amusing. As the observer, I noticed how many of the thoughts I noticed seemed random and unrelated, some of them even seemed foreign to me.

The above is how I typically explain what it’s like to meditate.

Soon after I woke up this morning, right before I left the bed, I had an idea that connected the above experience of meditation with designing artificial intelligence software. The insight I gained from meditating, into how we are observers of seemingly random thoughts, seemed appropriately suited for artificial intelligence computer programs.

Let me clarify, I’m trying to say that artificial intelligence design may benefit (and become actualized) if and when we can mimic what human minds do. In other words, when random ideas are picked from an idea bank or generated in some fashion then presented to an observing software for split-second analysis. By generating or picking up thousands of seemingly random pieces of information, then running them through the examining software (observer) that can discard some ideas and pick others for further consideration, we may be able to give a machine the ability to find inspiration and creativity.

I am posting this idea online, in hopes that someone can pick it up and utilize it, I hope you can find this helpful, assuming that this concept is not already being utilized in AI projects.

My meditation practice allowed me to see how thoughts, almost at random, criss-crossed my mind, and how consciousness or the observer can pick some and discard others, unconsciously processing countless numbers of ideas behind the scene of the logical mind. This is very different than the typical linear and object oriented computer programming, it is also different than fuzzy logic in computer science.

We, humans, make sense and create order out of seeming chaos in our heads, with ease (unconsciously), maybe this is what AI programs have been lacking.

Let me hear your thoughts, leave a comment below. Thanks!!

Added Feb 18, 2010:

I  mentioned traditional linear, object oriented programming and fuzzy logic above. I would like to clarify that fuzzy logic (ie. going with degrees of truth instead of true/false values) can be a valuable part of the AI strategy mentioned above. The observer program would utilize fuzzy logic to evaluate all the random ideas, images, concepts, sounds being presented to it. The source of such ideas, concepts etc being presented can also be another complex program, or multiple ones, I will call the source the ‘Presenter’ program(s); the observing program is what I’ve referred to as ‘Observer’.

A New Year is Here

January 1st, 2010 1 comment

ar119895516288958Happy New Year!

At this time, a week after the celebration of Christmas, we find ourselves gearing up for one more round of parties, celebration, and perhaps some deep reflection and quiet contemplation.   And we carry on a tradition of making , what many people call, New Year’s Resolutions.

I was pondering this word on the night of the solstice- when the light begins to return for longer periods than the darkness- and it dawned on me (no pun intended!) that the evening of the solstice felt more like “New Year’s” to me than anything.  A new year was beginning for me that night, as the darkness would be given less time to linger, and the light would be filling our days moreso.  What a great way to think about how we are moving into a new chapter in our lives.  The chapter of 2010-

But the meat of what I got to pondering, on that cold, crisp night here in Minnesota, where I live… was the word “resolution”; what’s with this making new year’s resolutions stuff?  I find there is a lack of feeling and motivation behind this word, resolution.

I wondered how many other people hear that catch-phrase and imagine the plethora of topics that are common in our country:  eating healthier, going on a diet, losing weight, getting in shape, paying off debt, quit smoking, quit drinking, quit this, quite that, stick-to-this, follow-through-on-that, etc.  These things can sound like such a CHORE!  And then it hit me:  the very word itself, resolution, implies there is something to be resolved, and if something is to be resolved, then we must first have a “problem”.

Well, I don’t like the word problem. When we take into account the Bigger Picture, I feel that here, there are no problems.  A problem is a matter of perception.  They are just a sign-post that something is simply out-of-whack in our mind and our heart, and thus is spills forth into our outer lives.  So we must bring it into the light, where it will be TRANSFORMED, brought back into alignment, and returned to us as a fresh perspective, a right outlook, a new energy that will fill us and point us in the direction of where we would like to be going.

After all, nothing can truly be destroyed, extinguished, or ended.  ALL is energy, ever changing, in a state of flux, shifting and moving and altering form as it naturally evolves or as we come along and perceive it and project our energy onto it.  So it’s not that bad habits need to be cut out of our lives- in fact, this can prove to be quite difficult!  Going “cold turkey” just usually doesn’t work that well.  But if we offer it to the Light, it will be transformed and shifted in the way that is most effective and perfect for us.

We are not here to resolve our lives or “fix” the world- WE ARE HERE TO TRANSFORM IT.

And Oh!  What a grand opportunity that is.

May you know that you,

right here, right now,

are FULLY  EQCUIPED to do just that-

Almost Done Reading Molecules Of Emotion by Candace Pert

June 15th, 2009 1 comment

I’ve been reading the book: Molecules Of Emotion by Candace Pert. I have a chapter left to go, and I am very eager to read it.

I have to say, the more you read the better this book gets. The first half is more of a biography, and is a very good foundation for the later parts of the book, it also gives you an insight into the life of a scientists in the lab. The last few chapters have a different taste and are loaded with information, names and useful references.

If you are interested in researching holistic and complementary health topics or the body-mind connection, the later half of this book is a very good starting point.

Find it on Amazon and read users reviews (rated by 118 readers – got 4starts/5 avg rating as of the date of this article)

Did you know that fear and excitement are essentially the same feeling, the only difference is the label we give them and our preconceived perceptions of the label.

Think about it. Both feelings are experienced in the belly. How we think about that feeling in our belly determines whether it has power over us or if we get power from it.

Excitement is energizing. Fear is paralyzing.

Be aware of this when you feel that paralyzing sense of fear and consciously turn it into an empowering exciting feeling.

This is how you can turn paralyzing fear into motivating exciting energy every time you face a life challenge.

Do this and you will discover your inner power to always convert challenges to motivations, hard times into growing opportunities, and as a result have a never ending source of motivating energy and a positive outlook on life.
